How to take a Mac screenshot

When you are on the screen you want a picture of:

  1. Press Command, and Shift and 4 all at the same time
  2.  A little target will come up for your mouse – get your mouse and drag it over the area you want the picture of.
  3. It will automatically be saved a .png file on your desktop
  4. Go to your desktop, it will be there.

Tip- don’t drag too much of the screen and the resolution get more blurred the larger the screen size.

Other options for screenshots:

  • ⌘+⇧+3: Capture entire screen and save as a file.
  • ⌘+Ctrl+⇧+3: Capture entire screen and copy to the clipboard.
  • ⌘+⇧+4: Capture dragged area and save as a file.
  • ⌘+ctrl+⇧+4: Capture dragged area and copy to the clipboard.
  • ⌘+⇧+4 then Space: Capture a window, menu, desktop icon, or the menu bar and save as a file.
  • ⌘+Ctrl+⇧+4 then Space: Capture a window, menu, desktop icon, or the menu bar and copy to the clipboard.

If anyone knows how to improve screen resolution please leave a comment, thanks
